Android Authority | David Imel

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip may be the best foldable smartphone made to date.

Buy the Galaxy Z Flip if you want something different, but only if you can stomach the uncertainty surrounding its durability. You might get three years of problem-free use out of it, but then you might not.

Pickr | Leigh Stark

This is a world where phones have continuously managed to get bigger, despite our pants pockets staying roughly the same. It's so nice to see a phone focus on being smaller, that it has almost become that phone that we choose to go to for the everyday slog. Honestly, it just needs a better camera and we'd be there. Recommended.

This foldable device is for people who love a little attention, the ones who really miss flip phones, and the ones want to be a part of the future tech league.

Mr Phone | Ershad Kaleebullah

I am convinced that the Galaxy Z Flip is the best foldable phone yet with the best performance as well. And therefore, if you are planning on buying one just pull the trigger eyes closed. This is most definitely a better foldable phone overall compared to the Moto Razr.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is particularly convincing with its folding concept, which is much easier to handle in everyday life than other smartphones with such a large display. Besides, it's simply a joy to fold the smartphone with one hand.

The easiest foldable to recommend thanks to excellent design, despite its sky-high price and 2019 internals.

If you want a clamshell phone with smartphone features, the Z Flip is pretty much your only option right now (aside from the Razr), and that makes it the coolest smartphone on the market right now.

The Z Flip is certainly the most appealing foldable around, but until the price drops it will remain a niche product.

The phone is good, there's no doubt, but its price is a serious downside, primarily because you can find phones with better specs for far less money.

The Galaxy Z Flip is a head-turner, one that's nothing like you've seen before. Hold it in your palm and it won't only make you feel special, but will also give you the thrill of using a device that's truly the first of its kind -- a thrill that's you won't even get out of the much expensive Galaxy Fold or the Moto Razr.

The Galaxy Z Flip is the most practical foldable phone to buy if you have the money. Backed with impressive hardware and camera capabilities, this smartphone is stylish and will definitely turn heads.

This is a phone that's highly enjoyable to use, and works very well. Oh, and it's a real head-turner. When people see it, they want to touch it, fold it, put it in their pocket and marvel at the design.

... if you just want a phone that ticks all boxes and also has one trick up its sleeve, the Galaxy Z Flip unfolds itself seeking your attention. This is for me a no-nonsense phone that just works. This is one of the best Android devices you can own at the moment.

If you don't care about the foldable display risks or paying an insane amount of money, the Z Flip is the best foldable phone that exists today.

Android Central | Nirave Gondhia

The Galaxy Z Flip takes a modern smartphone shape, and lets you fold it in half. It features a folding glass cover/display, a decent camera, flagship specs and decent battery life. There are compromises aplenty, namely in price and potential screen fragility, but this foldable gets closer than any prior to being a well-rounded phone.

Tom's Guide | Adam Ismail

The Galaxy Z Flip's flip phone design is a lot more appealing than the book-like approach of the Galaxy Fold. If the cameras work as promised, this could be one appealing foldable device.

Forbes | Patrick Moorhead

Currently, there is not a device on the market like Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip. Yes, there is the Razr but it has low specs, and the durability, in my opinion, is too low for anything more than a feature phone.

Honestly, the biggest compliment I can give the Z Flip is that it feels a lot like a traditional smartphone, but with the ability to bend the screen in half and end calls by slamming the phone shut, which is really goddamn satisfying.

For many people, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will meet their requirements in battery, camera and power, providing something unique that looks great; but for the gamers, enthusiasts and power users, the Galaxy Z Flip is probably a compromise might not want to make.

At the end of it all, you want to ditch your current phone for something ambitious and exciting, the Galaxy Z Flip is your best, most elegant option. All I ask is that you remember this: Buying one doesn't just mean you're getting a new phone. It also means you're rolling the dice.

How HandsetExpert Works: We don't run ads on the site, or charge users to use the site. The site is funded using commission links, where we may receive a commission if a phone or tariff is purchased via HandsetExpert. Our editorial, phone scoring and recommendation system and deal-finding algorithms are not affected by this; we are fiercely committed to providing unbiased, independent information.

Important notes

  • We aim to compare as many tariffs in the marketplace from the UK as possible. However, we do not include every package (e.g. legacy tariffs no longer available, or tariffs only available to existing/specific customers), nor do we detail every aspect of every tariff (e.g. international out of bundle rates, on-network minutes, etc).
  • SIM Only deals do not include plans shorter than 30 days or Pay As You Go rates.
  • We work really hard to get accurate prices from as many providers as possible, but some deals or providers may not be included; if there’s anything we’ve missed then please get in touch and let us know.
  • Whenever we can, we will let you know if a deal is time limited (such as a flash deal), and when the deal expires.
  • For tariffs which offer "unlimited" allowances, there may be times where traffic management or fair usage policies apply.
  • Additional charges for payment methods other than direct debit and for itemised/paper billing may apply.
  • Data only SIM cards, mobile broadband packages, and pay monthly tablets are currently not included in the comparison.
  • Out of bundle charges are not included in the calculation of Average Monthly Cost.
  • Contracts may not be available for some phone models in all colours and/or sizes, and a small number may only be available either as a pay monthly contract or a contract free handset, but not both.
  • Providers may increase the cost of your contract by RPI (inflation). However, if prices are increased that then cause a materially detrimental impact, you have the right to exit your contract without penalty. More details available from Ofcom plus comparative information on customer service and complaints handling & their guide on how to complain.
  • Ofcom runs a voluntary accreditation scheme for digital comparison tools (DCTs) for telephone, broadband and pay-TV, and has confirmed that this DCT meets the criteria for accreditation. For further details about the scheme, including the criteria that DCTs must meet, visit the price comparison page on the Ofcom website.
