It had an incredible battery life, a great camera and a gorgeous display, and for some, this will be more than enough reason to choose this over its closest rival... However, the S5 Neo's outer trappings do now feel distinctly old-fashioned, and its chipset, while competent, has now been surpassed by its newer rivals.

The Neo is almost identical to the original S5, but has an octa-core processor, an adaptive screen and an improved selfie camera. It's available in a choice of Black, Silver or Gold, and is cheaper to buy than the S5!

Positive aspects of the Galaxy S5 Neo are still the sturdy chassis, the great display, the comprehensive software equipment and the long battery runtimes. The smartphone is still waterproof, but does not need the annoying covers anymore. Samsung has also improved the cameras – the results are actually quite nice.

Surprisingly good, actually. It may look like a bulldog chewing a wasp but it has a lot of practical features, some of which are to a very high standard; notably the display, camera, and battery. If you favour features and pragmatism over aesthetics this could be a winner.

In the final analysis, it's impossible not to be impressed with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo. If you can get on with the design, which isn't the most attractive in the world, its combination of performance, battery life, camera quality and a reasonable price make it nearly unbeatable.
