After using the OnePlus 5T for close to a month, it's clear that this is one of the best smartphones released in 2017.

The OnePlus 5T is a brilliant phone. Its price makes the OnePlus 5T an absolute bargain, offering a top-notch experience for considerably less than the competition - you could buy two 5Ts and still have spare for the cost of one iPhone X.

The OnePlus 5T impresses with a larger screen and better camera, at the same price. Once again OnePlus proves you don't need to spend so much on a smartphone.

OnePlus has held the smartphone value crown for years now, with top-spec blowers that don't deplete your bank balance. Really though, the price is what should make the 5T a winner.

The flagship killer is back, bigger and better than ever. Although it isn't as cheap as OnePlus phones from years gone by, this - on first impressions - still seems like an incredible phone, that just also happens to cost a lot less than regular big-name flagship phones.

The OnePlus 5T is everything an upgrade should be. It takes the best bits of its predecessor and adds a modern looking design that rivals the best smartphones on the market. You'll struggle to find anything else on the market that offers similar value for money.

OnePlus' refreshed flagship has a swanky new screen and a camera that's intended for use in low-light; and a Star Wars edition is on the way. For me, the OnePlus 5T strikes the perfect balance between affordability, performance, design and battery life. It's pretty much the perfect smartphone.

If ever there was an easy product to recommend, it's the OnePlus 5T. If you want waterproofing and storage expansion, then the slightly smaller Samsung Galaxy S8 remains an amazing buy but for the ultimate in value it's hard to look past OnePlus' latest. It's quite simply the best mid-range smartphone money can buy.

There's really no one thing that I can pick and say I hate about the P20 Lite. The phone comes with all the traditional bells and whistles of a 2018 mid-range smartphone.

The OnePlus 5T is a flagship contender, as long as you don't need the best camera. With a 6-inch display and thinner bezels, the OnePlus 5T is nearly as good as the premium crop of Android phones, but for hundreds less.

While there are a few small compromises to consider - no QHD display, stereo speakers, expandable storage or standout camera - the OnePlus 5T represents some of the best value for money in the market. You won't be disappointed.

OnePlus moved away from the "shockingly good" value market when they ramped up prices earlier this year. With the OnePlus 5T, they've left the $300-$400 range wide open. For their range, they're right on top.

You're not going to score Galaxy S or iPhone performance from the OnePlus 5T, but you'll spend a few hundreds less and still come pretty close. If you prefer unlocked phones and want to keep costs down and performance up, the OnePlus 5T finds the right mix of both.

If you need a 3.5mm audio jack or are just looking for a fast phone that covers the gamut of functionality, it's very possible that the OnePlus 5T is the phone you've been waiting for. OnePlus is once again offering a phone that looks and feels every bit as good as phones many hundreds of dollars more expensive.

The OnePlus 5T is a wonderful update to an already premium affordable handset. OnePlus 5T is a valiant offering if you're looking for that flagship-grade, top-bang-for-the-buck smartphone, but are on a tight budget. However, as much as we're impressed by its low cost, The OnePlus 5T is not a surefire winner that can topple the greats in the high-end space right now.

With that said, the OnePlus 5T isn't a complete package. But, if there is a silver lining, it's that you haven't paid an arm and a leg, so you still get great value from the handset.

Although the OnePlus 5T is not quite as bezel-free or slim as the Galaxy S8+, the OnePlus 5T is a great development from its predecessor that has up until now managed to stay faux pas free (unlike the OnePlus 5 when it was launched). So we can definitely state: The flagship killer is back!

OnePlus has also won me over by keeping the phone's price the same as its old model. You really feel you are getting premium features from a OnePlus phone. For my money, this is still the most feature-packed, stylish and powerful phone you can pick up for its price.

The OnePlus 5T is a slightly great phone. In today's world no phone can be truly great without having a great camera on board, and I don't think the 5T has one of those. For anyone whose budget extends no further than this phone, I give it an enthusiastic thumbs up.

The OnePlus 5T could have been one of the year's best phones if not for its mediocre cameras. I like almost everything there is about the 5T. But bad cameras that take inconsistent photos are unacceptable and, unfortunately, drag down what is otherwise a great phone.

Come for the value, not the excitement. The OnePlus 5T isn't an industry-leading phone with the latest features that other companies will have to scramble to match. But it's still an exceptional value in an Android market that's getting surprisingly expensive at the top-end.

With great software, long-lasting battery life and consistently fast performance, it's easy to overlook some of its blemishes when it does so many things so well. Like the 5 before it, the 5T misses its chance at being a truly exceptional consumer device.

The OnePlus 5T makes an appealing budget alternative to a flagship. However, not all the flagship features are there. Nonetheless, this is a solid almost-all-rounder and very good value for the price -- just don't buy it if photography is top of your list.

How HandsetExpert Works: We don't run ads on the site, or charge users to use the site. The site is funded using commission links, where we may receive a commission if a phone or tariff is purchased via HandsetExpert. Our editorial, phone scoring and recommendation system and deal-finding algorithms are not affected by this; we are fiercely committed to providing unbiased, independent information.

Important notes

  • We aim to compare as many tariffs in the marketplace from the UK as possible. However, we do not include every package (e.g. legacy tariffs no longer available, or tariffs only available to existing/specific customers), nor do we detail every aspect of every tariff (e.g. international out of bundle rates, on-network minutes, etc).
  • SIM Only deals do not include plans shorter than 30 days or Pay As You Go rates.
  • We work really hard to get accurate prices from as many providers as possible, but some deals or providers may not be included; if there’s anything we’ve missed then please get in touch and let us know.
  • Whenever we can, we will let you know if a deal is time limited (such as a flash deal), and when the deal expires.
  • For tariffs which offer "unlimited" allowances, there may be times where traffic management or fair usage policies apply.
  • Additional charges for payment methods other than direct debit and for itemised/paper billing may apply.
  • Data only SIM cards, mobile broadband packages, and pay monthly tablets are currently not included in the comparison.
  • Out of bundle charges are not included in the calculation of Average Monthly Cost.
  • Contracts may not be available for some phone models in all colours and/or sizes, and a small number may only be available either as a pay monthly contract or a contract free handset, but not both.
  • Providers may increase the cost of your contract by RPI (inflation). However, if prices are increased that then cause a materially detrimental impact, you have the right to exit your contract without penalty. More details available from Ofcom plus comparative information on customer service and complaints handling & their guide on how to complain.
  • Ofcom runs a voluntary accreditation scheme for digital comparison tools (DCTs) for telephone, broadband and pay-TV, and has confirmed that this DCT meets the criteria for accreditation. For further details about the scheme, including the criteria that DCTs must meet, visit the price comparison page on the Ofcom website.
