This is one of the most attractive and elegant phones yet from Nokia, its slim profile with flush camera lenses and smooth edges making it a particularly good fit in the hand. Although it lacks the all-screen opulence of other flagships, it looks good and the display is bright, sharp and vibrant.
As a smartphone, the Nokia 9 Pureview is pretty good for the price range it runs for. Unfortunately, it's hard to justify the need for five cameras on the back when the image quality is a bit unpredictable and especially when processing the images is so slow.
The Nokia 9 PureView stands out from the crowd with its five cameras on the back promising a much improved photographic experience. For the rest, newcomer HMD Global decided to pass on the latest Qualcomm processor but this does not limit its overall performance.
The Nokia 9 delivers great performance, clean design and a camera that's utterly like no other. However, it falls short when it comes to battery life, and is ultimately as hindered as it is empowered by its powerful photography hardware.
As it stands, the Nokia 9's camera has an edge in dynamics range and can apply a faithful bokeh effect, but that's about it. And if the phone didn't lag behind in many other areas, that might have been enough for us to recommend it.
