The Motorola One Action is one of the best budget smartphones money can buy.

One Action is Motorola's most well-rounded phone yet, possessing all the credentials to go toe-to-toe with smartphones that cost much, much more.

There are a lot of great choices out there and it is starting to become harder to recommend just one. But the motorola one action should at least be on your shortlist of phones to consider.

MobileTechTalk | Craig Bradshaw

For that cash, you're getting a good triple camera setup, but not top-tier. You're getting a 6.3-inch 21:9 display, but not AMOLED. You get a fingerprint scanner, Type-C USB, Android One, as well as the elusive 3.5mm audio jack. All of this adds up to a compelling package.

Android Authority | Oliver Cragg

Motorola's experimental budget phone doesn't entirely stick the landing, but if you want a cheap handset with smooth performance, clean software, and a quirky, GoPro-like video camera, the Motorola One Action is well worth a look.

The Indian Express | Mohammad Faisal

Motorola One Action has a tall build that can be used easily with one hand, a good screen, smooth performance, nice sound, and gameplay sessions are good as well. The added bonus of the Action cam is a welcome addition and the high level of stabilisation in video recording is really commendable.

India Today | Amritanshu Mukherjee

It's comfortable to use, looks handsome and offers a smooth Android experience. Not many phones at this price manage to do that.

Mashable | Natasha Mathur

Motorola One Action is a smartphone that offers a smart video camera packed with an equally smart software, at a very affordable price point. Although the phone doesn't do much to excite on the design front, its good enough performance and Android One makes it a great buy for anyone wanting a good, well-rounded smartphone experience.

A solid affordable Android with an interesting, if not essential, GoPro-like action camera feature.

Pocket-lint | Mike Lowe

Ignore the seemingly gimmicky camera setup for one moment - which, it has to be said, captures steadied and smooth video - and the Moto One Action impresses for how well it performs overall at this price point.

phoneArena | Preslav Kateliev

Motorola One Action arguably delivers better stabilization and better sound recording than a budget GoPro. To top it off, it's an Android phone - you will be able to instantly sync, upload, or even remix your clips straight on the phone.

Even without the action camera, the Motorola One Action offers a good overall package.

Neowin | Rich Woods

... it's a decent enough phone, even if it's not enough to get me excited. Frankly, I'd recommend holding off until Motorola announces the Moto G8 and see what that device has to offer.

91mobiles | Nitansh Rastogi

All in all, Motorola One Action is an interesting offering and worth considering if you're an Android purist or love shooting action videos. The fact that it's priced...lower than its sibling without involving too many compromises also makes it a compelling proposition.

How HandsetExpert Works: We don't run ads on the site, or charge users to use the site. The site is funded using commission links, where we may receive a commission if a phone or tariff is purchased via HandsetExpert. Our editorial, phone scoring and recommendation system and deal-finding algorithms are not affected by this; we are fiercely committed to providing unbiased, independent information.

Important notes

  • We aim to compare as many tariffs in the marketplace from the UK as possible. However, we do not include every package (e.g. legacy tariffs no longer available, or tariffs only available to existing/specific customers), nor do we detail every aspect of every tariff (e.g. international out of bundle rates, on-network minutes, etc).
  • SIM Only deals do not include plans shorter than 30 days or Pay As You Go rates.
  • We work really hard to get accurate prices from as many providers as possible, but some deals or providers may not be included; if there’s anything we’ve missed then please get in touch and let us know.
  • Whenever we can, we will let you know if a deal is time limited (such as a flash deal), and when the deal expires.
  • For tariffs which offer "unlimited" allowances, there may be times where traffic management or fair usage policies apply.
  • Additional charges for payment methods other than direct debit and for itemised/paper billing may apply.
  • Data only SIM cards, mobile broadband packages, and pay monthly tablets are currently not included in the comparison.
  • Out of bundle charges are not included in the calculation of Average Monthly Cost.
  • Contracts may not be available for some phone models in all colours and/or sizes, and a small number may only be available either as a pay monthly contract or a contract free handset, but not both.
  • Providers may increase the cost of your contract by RPI (inflation). However, if prices are increased that then cause a materially detrimental impact, you have the right to exit your contract without penalty. More details available from Ofcom plus comparative information on customer service and complaints handling & their guide on how to complain.
  • Ofcom runs a voluntary accreditation scheme for digital comparison tools (DCTs) for telephone, broadband and pay-TV, and has confirmed that this DCT meets the criteria for accreditation. For further details about the scheme, including the criteria that DCTs must meet, visit the price comparison page on the Ofcom website.
