TechRadar | John McCann

The most powerful G series smartphone to date is packed with features and with a large screen, solid cameras and enough performance it's a great device for those unable to afford a fully fledged flagship.

The Motorola Moto G7 Plus is an excellent smartphone that may make people think twice about whether they should buy an expensive flagship. It is simply that good.

The G7 Plus will not be available in the US and that's a bit of a shame because it's slightly better than the G7. Altogether, this is another easy recommendation for those on a budget.

Motorola appears to have done it again. For its price, the Moto G7 Plus is a well-featured phone with plenty of highlights. The Moto G7 Plus should definitely be in the reckoning if your smartphone budget is around £300.

It's not the fastest phone in the world, but nor is it meant to be. If you want a phone to take pictures, browse social media apps, and play music and lightweight games – and don't want to spend a fortune – then get the g7 Plus. You won't regret it.

Motorola (or rather Lenovo) has done it again: the G7 Plus continues the G series tradition of offering some very decent specs and features at a very low price...the Moto G7 Plus is an excellent choice.

While it's not the best deal out there, the Moto G7 Plus still has about the best smartphone camera you can get for less than £300.

Australian PC World | Fergus Halliday

It's the phone for those who can't afford the Pixel 3a and come away wanting just a little more from the Moto G7.

For the price, the G7 Plus certainly acquits itself well. It unlocks incredibly smoothly via touch or face ID, and runs games well...Given the marketing behind it, the camera has some qualifications – not surprising given the price, but still to be noted....Overall, the G7 Plus is highly impressive for its price bracket, at a crucial time for Motorola given the competition. It even has a headphone jack!

How HandsetExpert Works: We don't run ads on the site, or charge users to use the site. The site is funded using commission links, where we may receive a commission if a phone or tariff is purchased via HandsetExpert. Our editorial, phone scoring and recommendation system and deal-finding algorithms are not affected by this; we are fiercely committed to providing unbiased, independent information.

Important notes

  • We aim to compare as many tariffs in the marketplace from the UK as possible. However, we do not include every package (e.g. legacy tariffs no longer available, or tariffs only available to existing/specific customers), nor do we detail every aspect of every tariff (e.g. international out of bundle rates, on-network minutes, etc).
  • SIM only deals are limited to 30-day and 12-month plans, excluding shorter plans and Pay As You Go rates.
  • For tariffs which offer "unlimited" allowances, there may be times where traffic management or fair usage policies apply.
  • Additional charges for payment methods other than direct debit and for itemised/paper billing may apply.
  • Data only SIM cards, mobile broadband packages, and pay monthly tablets are currently not included in the comparison.
  • Out of bundle charges are not included in the calculation of Average Monthly Cost.
  • Contracts may not be available for some phone models in all colours and/or sizes, and a small number may only be available either as a pay monthly contract or a contract free handset, but not both.
  • Providers may increase the cost of your contract by RPI (inflation). However, if prices are increased that then cause a materially detrimental impact, you have the right to exit your contract without penalty. More details available from Ofcom plus comparative information on customer service and complaints handling & their guide on how to complain.
