Know Your Mobile | Paul Briden

A really great phone with a lot of clout in a few key areas. It has the best battery performance you'll find anywhere, while being fast, well-made, and packing an excellent OLED display.

It's a worthy competitor to much more expensive mid-range phones, and there is competition. Yet still we come back to the P2's amazing battery life and all-round performance. The Lenovo P2 is the new budget smartphone king.

Incredible battery life and otherwise excellent specs for your cash make the P2 one of the best budget phones around... Whether you're a regular foreign traveller, a commuter glued to their phone screen, or just don't want to be tied to a power socket, the P2 is an excellent alternative to a battery-draining flagship phone.

The Lenovo P2 is the new budget smartphone king.... That absurd battery life alone is well worth the price: don't forget, you're buying the longest-lasting smartphone by far. And it doesn't stop there: the P2's display, performance and build quality are all top notch given the price, and it's a worthy competitor to much more expensive mid-range phones.

IT PRO | Adam Shepherd

An astonishing three-day battery life would be enough to carry the Lenovo P2 on its own, but the fact that it's got performance to back it up as well earns it a spot as one of the best smartphones of 2017.

Mobile Choice | Sunetra Chakravarti

The Lenovo P2 packs some of the best specs on the market. You get a phone with a massive battery, unibody metal construction, decent camera, NFC and fingerprint sensor... If you are not one for fancy online-only brands and want a smartphone that can last for days then the Lenovo P2 is one for you.

Recombu | Chris Barraclough

The Lenovo P2's awesomeness thankfully extends well past the ridiculously good battery life. For a low price tag, you get a well-specced handset that's great for enjoying media on the move, as well as reassuringly rugged.

Where the P2 wins is with battery life. Nothing else in the mainstream market comes close to the two-plus days that this Lenovo offers. Not ony is it fantasic in that regard, it's also remarkably good value.

TechRadar | James Peckham

The Lenovo P2 offers incredible battery life and still manages to tick off all the other aspects you'd want from a fantastic budget phone. If you're looking for a phone that lasts over two days, the Lenovo P2 is for you.

Lenovo's P2 is a strong mid-range handset that hardly exhibits weaknesses and shines particularly in terms of battery life and speaker sound.

There are many smartphones in the market today with large battery packs, but the Lenovo P2 is probably the best of the lot, from what we have tested. If you are looking for a big battery smartphone, this is the one to go for.

Gadgets Now | Rajat Sharma

battery life is one aspect in which the Lenovo P2 absolutely nails it...It's sturdily built, handles day-to-day tasks efficiently...The only sore point of the Lenovo P2 is its camera experience, which could have been much better.

NDTV Gadgets | Ketan Pratap

For a phone that is focused on battery life, the Lenovo P2's cameras also perform well, and its software is easy to use.

How HandsetExpert Works: We don't run ads on the site, or charge users to use the site. The site is funded using commission links, where we may receive a commission if a phone or tariff is purchased via HandsetExpert. Our editorial, phone scoring and recommendation system and deal-finding algorithms are not affected by this; we are fiercely committed to providing unbiased, independent information.

Important notes

  • We aim to compare as many tariffs in the marketplace from the UK as possible. However, we do not include every package (e.g. legacy tariffs no longer available, or tariffs only available to existing/specific customers), nor do we detail every aspect of every tariff (e.g. international out of bundle rates, on-network minutes, etc).
  • SIM Only deals do not include plans shorter than 30 days or Pay As You Go rates.
  • We work really hard to get accurate prices from as many providers as possible, but some deals or providers may not be included; if there’s anything we’ve missed then please get in touch and let us know.
  • Whenever we can, we will let you know if a deal is time limited (such as a flash deal), and when the deal expires.
  • For tariffs which offer "unlimited" allowances, there may be times where traffic management or fair usage policies apply.
  • Additional charges for payment methods other than direct debit and for itemised/paper billing may apply.
  • Data only SIM cards, mobile broadband packages, and pay monthly tablets are currently not included in the comparison.
  • Out of bundle charges are not included in the calculation of Average Monthly Cost.
  • Contracts may not be available for some phone models in all colours and/or sizes, and a small number may only be available either as a pay monthly contract or a contract free handset, but not both.
  • Providers may increase the cost of your contract by RPI (inflation). However, if prices are increased that then cause a materially detrimental impact, you have the right to exit your contract without penalty. More details available from Ofcom plus comparative information on customer service and complaints handling & their guide on how to complain.
  • Ofcom runs a voluntary accreditation scheme for digital comparison tools (DCTs) for telephone, broadband and pay-TV, and has confirmed that this DCT meets the criteria for accreditation. For further details about the scheme, including the criteria that DCTs must meet, visit the price comparison page on the Ofcom website.
