T3 | Mat Gallagher

The iPhone 13 Pro is in many ways the Goldilocks of the iPhone range – just right. It has the very best of iPhone features in a body that is a bit more pocket-sized and hand-friendly without sacrificing any major features.

The iPhone 13 Pro is camera extraordinaire and although is late to the party with many features, it does them so well, like Macro photography and adaptive refresh rates. It's the best Apple has to offer in way of 2021 smartphones.

The iPhone 13 Pro is as a refined an Apple phone as you can buy - so if you're in the market for an upgrade from an older generation then it'll still feel genuinely impressive.

Last year's iPhone 12 Pro didn't offer enough to make it worth the extra money over the excellent iPhone 12, but Apple has significantly beefed up the iPhone 13 Pro.

It's the iPhone you loved last year made even better this year. Highly recommended.

For those coming from earlier iPhones, the iPhone 13 Pro feels like the right upgrade much more so than the regular iPhone 13.

The new iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have designs that are very gently updated from last year but have significant changes inside, including, for the first time on an iPhone, a 120Hz refresh rate screen.

The new high-end iPhones are faster, sharper, and last longer than any previous models. The incredible camera only has one annoyance, but thankfully iOS 15.1 fixes it.

An ultra-smooth screen, improved low-light photos, and absolutely ridiculous battery life make the iPhone 13 Pro an obvious choice.

"...there's plenty of new features that make the new iPhone 13 Pro worth taking a look at. It's getting clear that the iPhone Pro range targets specialised users who look for finer details."

The iPhone 13 Pro represents a major improvement over the iPhone 12 Pro...While I don't recommend iPhone 12 Pro users upgrade, anyone with an older device will love what's on offer by the iPhone 13 Pro.

...the iPhone 13 Pro is the epitome of evolutionary change. Improved, sure, but only those utterly addicted to life on the (expensive) bleeding edge should upgrade from last year's models.

Sleek looks, one of the best cameras around, far-improved battery life and, finally, a 120Hz display – the iPhone 13 Pro is arguably the most complete iPhone I've ever reviewed.

he iPhone 13 Pro is the one of the most powerful phones ever. Despite the larger camera hump and lack of Touch ID, the latest iPhone is a beast with a stellar display and excellent cameras. It's also cheaper than the equally impressive iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The Verge | Dieter Bohn

The story of the iPhone 13 Pro is a story of iteration, sure, but iteration matters. iPhone 12 Pro owners will have to pay a lot of attention to see some of the differences and an upgrade probably doesn't make a lot of sense. But if you're using something older, all that iteration comes on top of the major improvements from the iPhone 12 Pro - the upgrades will be very noticeable. Either way, when you start to pay attention to the details, prepare to be impressed.

Apple's iPhone 13 Pro should be your go-to smartphone option if you want reliable all-day battery life and an almost too-good-to-be-true trio of cameras. But its weight and high price tag hold it back from being a true top-tier recommendation.

How HandsetExpert Works: We don't run ads on the site, or charge users to use the site. The site is funded using commission links, where we may receive a commission if a phone or tariff is purchased via HandsetExpert. Our editorial, phone scoring and recommendation system and deal-finding algorithms are not affected by this; we are fiercely committed to providing unbiased, independent information.

Important notes

  • We aim to compare as many tariffs in the marketplace from the UK as possible. However, we do not include every package (e.g. legacy tariffs no longer available, or tariffs only available to existing/specific customers), nor do we detail every aspect of every tariff (e.g. international out of bundle rates, on-network minutes, etc).
  • SIM Only deals do not include plans shorter than 30 days or Pay As You Go rates.
  • We work really hard to get accurate prices from as many providers as possible, but some deals or providers may not be included; if there’s anything we’ve missed then please get in touch and let us know.
  • Whenever we can, we will let you know if a deal is time limited (such as a flash deal), and when the deal expires.
  • For tariffs which offer "unlimited" allowances, there may be times where traffic management or fair usage policies apply.
  • Additional charges for payment methods other than direct debit and for itemised/paper billing may apply.
  • Data only SIM cards, mobile broadband packages, and pay monthly tablets are currently not included in the comparison.
  • Out of bundle charges are not included in the calculation of Average Monthly Cost.
  • Contracts may not be available for some phone models in all colours and/or sizes, and a small number may only be available either as a pay monthly contract or a contract free handset, but not both.
  • Providers may increase the cost of your contract by RPI (inflation). However, if prices are increased that then cause a materially detrimental impact, you have the right to exit your contract without penalty. More details available from Ofcom plus comparative information on customer service and complaints handling & their guide on how to complain.
  • Ofcom runs a voluntary accreditation scheme for digital comparison tools (DCTs) for telephone, broadband and pay-TV, and has confirmed that this DCT meets the criteria for accreditation. For further details about the scheme, including the criteria that DCTs must meet, visit the price comparison page on the Ofcom website.
