Samsung can be credited with creating the 'phablet' market - their Galaxy Note series has to date been the benchmark all other manufacturers of handsets of that form aspire to. This third incarnation of the Galaxy Note comes with world-leading specs for 2013, and makes extensive use of the 'S-Pen' stylus to enhance functionality.
What the critics say (scores are out of 100)
AndroidPit | Loie Favre Samsung really delivered something of quality, but didn't hit it out of the ball park. This unfortunately means that there is yet a lot of potential to explore. Read full review |

Digital Versus | Romain Thuret The Galaxy Note 3 is a worthy inheritor of the GS4's awesome power and capabilities. It refines a number of its predecessor's best features, exhibits fluidity rarely seen among the competition and is incredibly versatile. The camera may not be anything special, but the Note 3 is a fine device that will satisfy any big-screen mobile fans. Read full review |

What Hi-Fi? The Galaxy Note family started the trend for phablets, and in many ways it is still leading the way. The Note 3 is an accomplished handset across the board, with a screen big enough to give your videos a boost without needing a whole lot of extra space in your pocket. Read full review |

The Gadget Show If you want a big screen that's not truly ridiculous, has more features than you can shake a stick at, and you don't make calls too often, the Galaxy Note 3 is the phone for you. King of the phablets? We'd say so. Read full review |
Mobile Choice It may not offer a huge bag of new and exciting tricks, but its impressive power, even more spacious high-res screen and upgraded 13-megapixel camera make it an enticing prospect for creative types and professionals. Read full review |

Stuff | Esat Dedezade Want one device to replace your phone and tablet combi? The Galaxy Note 3 is the finest phablet out there. Read full review |
Expert Reviews | Tom Morgan There's not much choice when it comes to such giant phones, but when the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is this good, that's not really a problem. Read full review |
Pocket-lint | Ian Morris If, like many, you find the screen too big for practical use then you may want to look elsewhere. But if you're after a large-screen handset then we can think of few competitiors to match - the Note 3 is very much the one to get. Read full review |
The Telegraph | Matt Warman Overall, on the one level the Galaxy Note 3 is simply an iterative improvement over the existing, excellent models - but those improvements are pretty substantial leaps. Read full review |
Australian PC World | Ross Catanzariti The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is best described as an evolutionary device, rather than a revolutionary one. Despite this, its fantastic display, slim build and fast software make it a fantastic option for anyone who's looking for an oversized smartphone. Read full review |
Android Authority | Joshua Vergara In its many different implementations, the Note 3 works and generally succeeds. As a phone, as a tiny tablet, as a media player, as a backup camera, as a personal assistant, as a bridge in the gap between analog writing and digital input, as a good looker, and ultimately as an overall tool for everyday use. And the beauty is when all of these things are put together â coupled with the power underneath, the Note 3 is capable of handling everything you throw at it. Read full review |
TechnoBuffalo | Todd Haselton We freakin' love this phone. We really appreciate that Samsung answered complaints about the cheapo-plastic look and feel of its older devices and, while it's not perfect yet, we prefer the faux leather design on the back. We love almost every aspect of the Note 3, from its excellent battery life to its brilliant display, and we think you will, too. Read full review |
The Next Web | Ben Woods One of the best Android handsets money can buy, if you can hold it. Read full review |
PC Advisor | Matt Egan We're not sure you need all the extra features that Samsung packs in, and we could live without the S Pen. And not everyone needs or wants a smartphone with a 6in display. Neither is the camera all that great. But be in no doubt about it, the Galaxy Note 3 is a high-quality portable device, offering the best performance we've ever seen, a stunning screen and nice build quality. Read full review |
Ubergizmo | Eliane Fiolet The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is an excellent large-display smartphone that provides a unique user experience in a well crafted piece of hardware. The Note 3 simply remains the King of large phones. Read full review |
phoneArena | John V True, most of the new software features aren't new, as it borrows many things from the Galaxy S4 before it, but the new stuff primarily centers around the S Pen and multi-tasking aspect of the phone, which is something that continues to make the Note 3 very different from other smartphones. Read full review |
Wired UK | Dave Oliver It's big, but it's beautifully formed, and delivers excellent performance and a world-leading screen. The camera is pretty good too but it's the S-Pen that really sells the Note series, and the new version is ace. Read full review |
CNET UK | Andrew Hoyle With its bold, Full HD display, superbly powerful processor and responsive stylus, the Galaxy Note 3 is an unquestionable powerhouse that's well suited to those of you looking for a device to tackle work on the move. Its enormous size -- not to mention its high price -- means it's not going to be a sensible option for the casual phone fan though. Read full review |
TechRadar | John McCann The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a great phone and if you were to own one you wouldn't be disappointed. It provides a great onscreen experience - as long as your hands are big enough to reach across it - and its stuffed full of tech to almost warrant its lofty price tag. Read full review |
Mobile Syrup | Daniel Bader Samsung has really nailed the feel of a high-end smartphone for the first time, and it's not just the less slimy plastic or faster performance, but the relative cohesion of the entire package. From the superlative performance to the delightful richness of the 1080p display, there are few marks against the product. Read full review |
NotebookCheck | Daniel Schuster Those who have always been fond of the Note series will definitely already have cast an eye at Samsung's newest flagship - and rightfully so, as the Galaxy Note 3 is more than just an ordinary successor to the Galaxy Note II. Staying true to the trend of ever-larger smartphone screen sizes, the display of the Note 3 has grown as well; albeit in moderation, (the device is actually smaller and lighter than its predecessor, partially thanks to smaller bezels). Read full review |
AnandTech | Brian Klug Whereas previous Notes felt like a strange alternative to the Galaxy S line, the Galaxy Note 3 feels more like Samsung's actual flagship. Read full review |
Coolsmartphone | James Pearce The list of what it can do is enormous, I constantly find new things I can achieve on a Note that previously I'd reserved for my PC, especially with the new Multi Window option. Read full review |
PC Pro | Jonathan Bray There's absolutely no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a stupendously capable piece of kit. Whether you'll buy one or not, though, won't come down to its competence as a smartphone, but whether you're prepared to carry around and use a smartphone this big. Read full review |
The Verge | Dan Seifert The big phone category is well, bigger than ever, but the Galaxy Note 3 proves that Samsung still owns this arena. Read full review |

The Mobile Indian | Anil Satapathy The Galaxy Note 3 has everything that even an advance user would like to see in his/her smartphone. Read full review |
TechSpot | Tim Schiesser The Galaxy Note 3 isn't the greatest smartphone money can buy, but it's the best option in the category it fills, sure to keep Samsung dominant for another year or two. Read full review |
Know Your Mobile | Paul Briden A stunning handset with plenty of power, a great screen, decent camera and days worth of battery life. One of the best multitasking smartphones around Read full review |
Digital Trends | Matt Safford With industry-leading specs, a great screen, and improved S Pen implementation, plus a nicer exterior, the Note 3 is a very impressive piece of hardware. But it has a mountain of features that can be overwhelming, even for Android veterans. Read full review |
International Business Times | David Gilbert For some people who value lots of screen real-estate as a top priority together with a lot of power under the hood, the Galaxy Note 3 will represent good value for money. It is certainly the most complete 'phablet' out there with the impressive - if, in my opinion, pointless - stylus offering a plethora of options. Read full review |
NDTV Gadgets | Anupam Saxena The Galaxy Note 3 is indeed the best big screen phone or phablet available in the market, at this point in time. It packs in the latest hardware, a brilliant full-HD screen, better build quality and a smart stylus that makes multi-tasking a breeze. Read full review |
MSN Tech | Dan Sung The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a really, really good phone. Of that, there is absolutely no doubt. It shows off Android at its best and smoothest, the screen is everything you could possibly need on either a tablet or a mobile plus the video recording and picture taking is the sort of thing that should scare anyone with a budget compact. What it doesn't do, though, is give you much a reason to bother with the S Pen stylus at all and, for the while, anything you're paying for on that front is really a waste of money. Read full review |
V3 | Lee Bell While its design lets the Galaxy Note 3 down, the device is loaded with plenty of business features, and is great for multitasking and heavy workloads. Read full review |
What Mobile | Jordan O'Brien If what you want is a decent Phablet that can more than hold its own, and care little about the S Pen, then the Galaxy Note 3 is still the compelling choice against the competition. Read full review |
T3 | David Phelan If you like a big screen, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is worth a look - it's the best phablet yet. Read full review |
Engadget | James Trew The Note remains unchallenged in its category. Excellent battery life, a brilliant display and top performance make it an excellent all-rounder for those wanting a bigger device. Read full review |
Trusted Reviews | Andrew Williams The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 successfully continues the one Samsung series of phones that no other manufaturer to date has really managed to touch. Stylus phones aren't for everyone, but we have to applaud the lengths to which Samsung has gone to in order to try and make the thing feel useful. However, the ridiculous number of features mean this is not a phone for smartphone beginners. Read full review |
